Grants (OLEV)

Government Grant?

The EV chargepoint grant replaces the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) and is open to:

  •  1) homeowners who live in flats
  •  2) people in rental accommodation (flats and single-use properties)

In short form what this scheme essentially allows you to do is claim 75% of the cost of the installation and materials of the home charging point up to £350.

There is a set of criteria that both the customer (i.e. the home owner having the charging equipment installed) and the installer must meet to be eligible for the grant. These key points are:

Installer:

In order to claim the grant, the installer needs to join a list of registered OLEV installers. To apply to join OLEV and become a registered installer, you will need:

  •  Proof of membership with a government approved competent person scheme
  •  Proof of your public liability insurance
  •  Proof that you have been trained to install vehicle charge points
  •  Proof that you are approved by a charge point manufacturer to install their equipment
  •  Once this has all been submitted and verified you will be added to the list of OLEV approved installers and be eligible to claim the grant on your customers behalf.

Customer:

The vehicle must be on the list of approved vehicles
The customer must have off street parking that is associated with their property
The vehicle must have come into the owner’s keepership after 1st October 2016
If the vehicle is a company vehicle or a lease vehicle it needs to be the keeper needs to either be assigned or lease if for a minimum of six months
